AMG GT Check Engine Light and Reduced Power
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Mercedes AMG GT owner is experiencing a check engine light, reduced engine power, and smoke upon acceleration, suspecting a crankcase ventilation malfunction. A possible cause identified is a faulty PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve, which can lead to a vacuum leak and erratic idle. It is recommended to visit a workshop for proper diagnosis and repair, as the issue can lead to more significant problems if not addressed.

The idle does seem a little erratic, yes. When you say 'vacuum leak', what exactly does that entail? Is it something obvious I could check myself, or is specialized equipment needed?

A vacuum leak basically means unmetered air is entering your engine. The computer tries to compensate, but it can only do so much. As for checking it yourself, sometimes you can hear a hissing sound near the valve, but often it's subtle. Honestly, for something like this, and with those symptoms, I'd suggest a workshop visit. They can properly diagnose it and confirm the PCV valve is the culprit. It's usually a pretty straightforward fix, but best to be sure. Could save you bigger problems down the road.

Understood. I appreciate the advice. I will schedule an appointment with my workshop to inspect the PCV valve. The estimated repair cost is 360€. Thank you for your insight.

Sounds like a PCV valve issue. I had a similar problem with my AMG GT, although I can't recall the exact mileage when it happened. The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve can malfunction, causing a vacuum leak. Is the idle rough at all? A faulty PCV valve can cause all sorts of weirdness. Think of it like a tiny lung for your engine, if it can't breathe right, things go south fast.
