Avalon automatic temperature control issue
Summary of the thread
The automatic temperature control on a 2001 Toyota Avalon stopped working, accompanied by an error code and non-functional air conditioning. The suspected cause was a faulty interior temperature sensor. A suggestion was made to check the sensor's cable and plug connection, as a similar issue was resolved by fixing a loose connection. Upon professional inspection, the problem was indeed a loose connection, which was repaired, restoring the system's functionality.

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly is the sensor located? And how did you figure out the cable was the issue? Was it visibly damaged?

Mine was tucked up behind the dash, near the center console. Honestly, I didn't diagnose it myself; I took it to a shop. They found the loose connection pretty quickly. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Might be worth getting it checked out professionally.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I ended up taking it to a mechanic, and you were right – it was a loose connection on the sensor! They fixed it, and everything is working perfectly now.

I had a similar issue with my Avalon. Check the cable and plug connection of the sensor. That was the problem for me. Is the error message related to the HVAC sensor?
