Blazer manifold pressure sensor issue
Summary of the thread
The 2002 Chevrolet Blazer is experiencing a check engine light, decreased power, and higher fuel consumption, possibly due to a faulty manifold pressure sensor. The symptoms include rough idling, which may indicate a malfunctioning MAP sensor or a large vacuum leak. Cleaning the sensor might not resolve the issue, and professional diagnosis and replacement are recommended to avoid further complications.

The engine idles somewhat roughly. Could you elaborate on the specific sensor-related issues you encountered? What were the indicators pointing towards a manifold pressure sensor malfunction?

Okay, so the rough idle pretty much confirms what I suspected. It was definitely the MAP sensor for me. I tried cleaning it, but it was a goner. Honestly, unless you're a whiz with engines, I'd recommend taking it to a trusted workshop. It's a fiddly job, and you don't want to mess up the intake manifold. They'll diagnose it properly and replace the sensor. I think it cost me around 235€, parts and labor included.

Ugh, I know that feeling! I had the same symptoms with my Blazer. Check engine light, sluggish performance, and gas mileage tanking – it was a nightmare! Does the engine sound rough at idle? That's how mine started. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was going on.
