Well, the check engine light was always on, and the error code was for the emission sensor. I had a slight exhaust smell too, like you. I just took it to a shop; they found a bad connection and replaced the sensor. Saved me a headache. Honestly, with exhaust leaks, it's best to let the pros handle it.

Thanks for the help. I think I'll get it checked by a pro, especially with the exhaust leak. I'm scheduling an appointment with a good shop. They quoted me 95€ for the repair.

Ugh, NOx sensor issues are the WORST! I had something similar happen with my Caprice. Is your catalytic converter acting up too? That's what happened to mine. Is the leak near the sensor itself?
