Caprice oil pressure warning light
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Chevrolet Caprice owner experienced issues with the speedometer warning light and oil pressure lamp. Despite the oil level appearing adequate, there was concern about contamination due to delayed oil changes. The problem was resolved by taking the car to a workshop, where an oil change and oil filter replacement were performed, addressing the overdue maintenance and restoring normal oil levels.

Thanks for the reply! The oil color does look darker than usual, but not quite sludge-like. What caused the problem for you, and how did you fix it?

Alright, if it's dark, but not total sludge, it's still not great. Honestly, I nursed it for a bit too long, thinking it was just old oil. Big mistake! It ended up costing me more in the long run. My advice? Get it to a workshop ASAP. It could be a clogged oil filter, or worse, something seriously wrong with the engine. Don't risk it!

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop for an inspection. Turns out I was overdue for maintenance. They did an oil change, replaced the oil filter, and brought the oil level back to normal. It cost 165€.

CAPRICE

Whoa, dude, that sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my Caprice. I'm not sure what year yours is, but mine was doing the exact same thing with the oil pressure light and the warning light. Did you check the oil color? Mine looked like black sludge. It could be an oil leak somewhere, but honestly, the oil pressure thing is spooky.
