Thanks for the reply. I tried what you suggested with the key fob, but it didn't work. By general electrical malfunctions I mean lots of dashboard lights on, and the engine does start normally.

Ah, okay, so it’s not a simple key fob thing. The fact that the engine starts is good, but those lights aren't. Yeah, Transport Mode is a real pain when it sticks. Honestly, sounds like you need a proper diagnostic tool to clear it. Best to book it in at a workshop for that. Could be a software glitch.

Thanks for the info. Took it to a mechanic, and they cleared the transport mode setting with their diagnostic tool. No cost!

CAPTIVA

Whoa, that's weird! I had a similar issue with my Captiva (don't remember the year). "Transport Mode" usually means the car's settings are limited for shipping, to preserve the battery and prevent unauthorized use. Are you sure the dealer prepped it properly? Have you tried pressing and holding the unlock button on the key fob for 10 seconds? Heard that can sometimes reset it. Does the engine even start?
