Captur preheating lamp issue

Thank you for your input. I haven't observed any noticeable engine misfires or rough idling. However, the fuel efficiency does seem slightly reduced. Could the glow plugs be the sole cause, even without the other symptoms?

In my case with the BMW, the engine misfires were subtle at first. Eventually, they became more pronounced. Given your reduced fuel efficiency and the error code, it's highly probable that the glow plugs are indeed the primary culprit. I would suggest a visit to a workshop for a proper diagnosis.

I appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop, and as suspected, the glow plugs were defective. The total repair cost came to 440€. Thank you for confirming my suspicion.

Clio 2 Diesel Authentique 2004 vintage. Preheater glowplug light not on long enough for warm engine start, making engine starting difficult? Anybody have a solution? New glowplugs fitted but dont seem to be providing enough heat!

Check the glow plug relay, as it controls the duration the glow plugs are heated. A faulty relay might cause the preheater light to turn off too soon. If the relay is functioning properly, inspect the wiring and connections for any signs of damage or corrosion. Let me know how it goes or if you have further questions!

Have you had a chance to check the glow plug relay and the wiring connections? If the issue persists, it might be worth inspecting the engine coolant temperature sensor, as it can affect the preheating duration. Let me know if you need more assistance!

I had a comparable issue with my previous BMW 3 Series. The engine light was on constantly and the car seemed to have issues with fuel efficiency. The error codes pointed towards the glow plugs. Have you noticed any engine misfires or rough idling, particularly when the engine is cold?
