Cavalier fuel delivery problems

Has anyone encountered fuel delivery issues with their 2021 Chevrolet Cavalier (gasoline engine)? At 73659 km, it's showing failure to start, stalling at idle, check engine light, rough engine operation, and high fuel consumption. Diagnostic scans show an error, and I suspect a defective fuel pump. Could a faulty cable or plug connection be the problem?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Chevrolet Cavalier owner reported fuel delivery issues, including failure to start, stalling, check engine light, rough operation, and high fuel consumption. The error code P0230 suggested a problem with the fuel pump circuit. While a defective fuel pump was initially suspected, a faulty cable or plug connection was also considered. After consulting with another owner and checking the relay and fuse, the issue was confirmed to be a faulty fuel pump cable, which was repaired by a mechanic.

Cavalier owner here, though not a 2021 model. Those symptoms sound familiar. Stalling and the check engine light were my initial indicators. Before replacing the fuel pump, did you check the fuel pump relay and fuse? Sometimes the simple things cause the biggest headaches. What error code are you getting?

Good point regarding the relay and fuse – both checked and appear functional. The error code logged is P0230 (Fuel Pump Primary Circuit). Given this, and considering the consistent failure to maintain idle, could a partially blocked fuel filter also contribute to these symptoms?

P0230 points strongly to the fuel pump circuit itself. A blocked filter could contribute to poor performance, but I doubt it would trigger that specific code, or cause complete stalling. Given your expertise, you probably already know that. My opinion? You should bring your car to a trusted workshop. They should be able to pinpoint it. I paid 95€ for such a repair.

Indeed, P0230 made me lean towards the pump issue. Your confirmation and experience were invaluable. I took it to my mechanic, and it was a faulty fuel pump cable. The repair was 95€. Thanks for steering me in the right direction!
