Ccrosser crankshaft sensor fault
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a 2009 Citroen Ccrosser experiencing reduced engine power, poor response, and increased fuel consumption, with a diagnostic scan indicating a crankshaft to camshaft reference value issue. The problem is identified as a potential crankshaft position sensor defect, confirmed by the error code P0335. The suggested solution involves checking the wiring and potentially replacing the sensor, which ultimately resolves the issue after professional intervention.

The error code is P0335, indicating a crankshaft position sensor A circuit malfunction. I have not yet inspected the wiring; however, I will check this tomorrow. Is this crankshaft sensor defect the same issue that you experienced?

Yes, P0335 was the exact code I was getting, so our issues seem identical. I checked the wiring, but in my case, the sensor itself had failed. While you might be able to replace it yourself if you're mechanically inclined, it can be a bit fiddly to reach. Given the symptoms and the code, I'd say it's highly likely the crankshaft sensor is the culprit. To be honest, unless you are really comfortable working on cars, I would recommend taking it to a workshop. It will likely need a diagnostic check to confirm after the repair as well.

I appreciate your advice. I checked the wiring and could not see any obvious faults, so I took your advice and booked the car into a local garage. They confirmed that the crankshaft sensor was defective and replaced it. The total cost was 340€, including the sensor and labor. The car is now running perfectly again. Thank you for your help!

That sounds familiar. I've a Ccrosser, though I don't know if it's relevant I got it later than yours, and I had similar symptoms a while back. The engine light was on, and the performance was definitely suffering. The car felt like it was misfiring, especially when accelerating. What codes are you getting exactly? Knowing the specific code number helps narrow things down. It's usually a P03xx code. And have you checked any of the wiring to the cam sensor or crankshaft sensor? Sometimes it's just a loose connection. The crankshaft sensor and the camshaft sensor work together, each measuring the position and rotational speed of their respective parts. The engine control unit, or ECU, uses these measurements to control the timing of fuel injection and ignition. If it cannot determine this timing well, the engine performance will suffer.
