Celica Alarm System Malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Toyota Celica experienced a malfunctioning anti-theft alarm system with an error stored, rendering it non-functional. The issue was identified as potentially related to the alarm system's coding for optical locking (indicators). The solution involved taking the vehicle to a workshop for a software reinstallation or recoding of the alarm system, which resolved the problem.

Can you elaborate on that? How did you resolve the issue related to the optical locking?

Unfortunately, I did not find a way to resolve it myself. I took it to a workshop and they sorted it out. It seems it requires a software reinstallation or recoding of the alarm system. It's a known issue.

Thanks for the info. Took it to the shop; they recoded the alarm. Turns out that was the problem indeed, and it cost 45€. All sorted now.

I had a similar issue with my Celica. Check if the alarm system is coded to activate the optical locking (indicators). That was my problem.
