Chevrolet Blazer Knocking Combustion
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Chevrolet Blazer with a gasoline engine was experiencing knocking combustion at 217,786 km, leading to reduced engine power, jerking acceleration, smoke, and an error code. The issue was suspected to be caused by combustion chamber deposits, which can lead to pre-ignition by creating hot spots. The solution involved a professional cleaning of the deposits, which resolved the problem.

Octane is correct. Cylinder heads seem fine. Tuning hasn't been touched. Pre-ignition, though... Could deposits really cause that?

Yes, carbon deposits absolutely can cause pre-ignition. They create hot spots in the combustion chamber. If the deposits are the issue, consider a professional cleaning or fuel additive. But to be honest, at that mileage, it might be worth getting a workshop to scope the cylinders.

Thanks. Workshop confirmed deposits. Cleaned for 425€. Runs fine now.

I have a Blazer, too. Sounds like pre-ignition, possibly detonation. Are you using the correct fuel octane? Detonation can seriously damage your cylinder heads. Is it possible that your engine tuning is off?
