Citroen C1 Cruise Control Failure

Hey, my 2005 Citroen C1 with a gasoline engine is giving me some grief. The cruise control has completely stopped working. I've got 125826 km on the clock. The only things I've noticed are that the cruise control won't engage at all, and my OBD scanner is showing an error stored in the error memory. I've had a little look myself; could it be something simple like a blown fuse? Or maybe something to do with a faulty speed sensor or one of the pedal switches? Could it also be a defective cable or a defective plug connection? Any ideas where I should start looking? Thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

The conversation revolves around a Citroen C1 with a cruise control failure. The problem is identified as the cruise control not engaging, with an error code present. Possible causes considered include a blown fuse, faulty speed sensor, pedal switches, defective cable, or plug connection. The solution involved consulting a mechanic, who identified and replaced a defective cable or plug connection, resolving the issue.

Greetings. I experienced a comparable issue with the cruise control system in my 2012 Opel Astra. While the specific root cause may differ between vehicle models, the initial symptoms appear consistent. Have you considered a potential malfunction within the steering wheel controls themselves, or perhaps a defective pedal switch? These components are integral to the cruise control's operational circuit. I would also check all relevant fuses.

Thanks for your reply. When you say steering wheel controls, do you mean something inside the steering wheel itself? Is that something that's easy to check, or will I have to start dismantling everything? Also, which fuses should I check, and where would I find them? I want to be sure I'm checking the right ones before I accidentally make things worse!

In the case of my Astra, the issue stemmed from a faulty connection within the steering wheel control module. Diagnosis of this issue necessitated specialized equipment and expertise. Given the potential complexity and the error code stored, I would recommend consulting a qualified technician for precise diagnosis and repair. It can save time and potential further complications.

Thanks again! I took it to a local mechanic today. It turned out to be a defective cable or plug connection of the component, just like I suspected! They replaced the defective cable and the total cost was 95€. Cruise control is working again. Your advice to see a professional was spot on!
