Citroen C3 Stalling Idling Weak Engine
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Citroen C3 with nearly 200,000 km is experiencing increased fuel consumption, a weak engine, stalling when idling, and smoke during acceleration. The initial suspicion is an issue with the injection system, despite the air filter appearing fine. A suggestion to check cable and plug connections to the injectors leads to the discovery of a loose or corroded connection, which, once fixed, resolves the problem.

Yeah, the engine management light does flicker sometimes, especially when it stalls. You mentioned the cable and plug connections – are there any specific ones I should be looking at, or is it more of a general check?

It's a bit of a general check, unfortunately. Could be a loose or corroded connection on any of the injectors. Honestly, given the symptoms, it might be best to get it checked out at a workshop. Could save you a lot of time and headache.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a local garage, and you were spot on – it was a dodgy connection on one of the injectors. They cleaned it up and secured it properly. Cost me 95€. Runs like a charm now!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my C3 a while back. Does the engine management light come on at all? Have you tried checking the cable and plug connections to the injection components? That can cause all sorts of weird problems.
