Citroen C4 Engine Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Citroen C4 diesel is experiencing engine power loss, poor response, and increased fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. The initial suspicion is a defective crankshaft sensor. A similar case confirmed that a faulty crankshaft sensor was the cause, and it was advised to have it checked at a workshop to prevent further engine damage. The issue was resolved by replacing the crankshaft sensor, costing 340€.

How did you figure that out? What did you do?

It was a real headache. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed the crankshaft sensor was faulty. I would recommend you do the same; otherwise you may damage other parts of the engine.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the shop, and you were right. Crankshaft sensor was the culprit, and it cost 340€ to repair.

I had similar symptoms with my C4. Check the crankshaft to camshaft reference value; maybe there is a misfire. It could be related to the timing chain as well.
