Citroen C8 Engine Running Rich
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Citroen C8 diesel was experiencing issues with the engine running rich, leading to reduced power, a check engine light, rough engine performance, increased fuel consumption, and jerking during acceleration. The initial suspicion was a defective injector, which can cause such symptoms by improperly regulating fuel flow. After further investigation, it was confirmed that a faulty injector was indeed the cause, and replacing it resolved the issues, restoring smooth operation.

Thanks for the reply! The air filter is new, and the catalytic converter seems fine. Could a faulty injector really cause all these problems, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

A faulty injector can definitely cause those issues. Think of it like a leaky tap constantly dripping fuel into the engine. It's possible to DIY test the injectors. However, given all your symptoms, I'd recommend getting it checked by a workshop with the proper tools.

Thanks for the advice! It turned out to be a defective injector, just as I suspected. Replacing it cost me 515€, but now the car runs smoothly again.

Sounds like you're getting too much fuel, not enough air, or both. I had similar symptoms on my old Volvo – turned out to be a dodgy mass airflow sensor messing with the air-fuel ratio. Have you checked your air filter? When was the catalytic converter replaced?
