Citroen DS5 diesel particulate filter issue
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Citroen DS5 diesel with 24,801 km is experiencing poor engine power and excessive smoke during acceleration, suspected to be due to a diesel particulate filter (DPF) issue. Short trips around town may prevent proper DPF regeneration, leading to these problems. A similar case required DPF replacement, and a vehicle inspection confirmed the defective DPF, resulting in a costly repair.

Thanks for the reply! I usually drive it a couple of times a week, mostly short trips around town. Could that be the problem? What was the cause in your case?

Yes, short journeys are not good for DPF regeneration. My issue was a defective DPF requiring replacement. I recommend a vehicle inspection.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were right - the diesel particulate filter was defective. The repair cost me 1550€. Appreciate your help!

I had similar symptoms. I also have a DS5 diesel. It could be the DPF. How often do you drive it, and what type of journeys do you usually undertake?
