Colorado diesel check engine light and power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Chevrolet Colorado diesel is experiencing a check engine light, reduced power, and increased fuel consumption, with a mileage of 165,505 km. The suspected cause is a faulty exhaust temperature sensor, possibly due to an exhaust leak. It is suggested to have a professional diagnostic to confirm the issue, as similar symptoms in another vehicle were caused by a cracked manifold.

Good point. How did you confirm the leak versus a faulty sensor? My readings fluctuate, which points to the sensor, but I haven't ruled out the exhaust system.

Truthfully, I couldn't confirm it myself. Too many uncertainties. I ended up taking it to a workshop where they diagnosed a cracked manifold. It's best to get it professionally checked before throwing parts at it. They quoted 265€, which included the sensor replacement, so prepare for the worst.

I had a similar issue with my old Volvo V70. Same symptoms: check engine light, power loss, and a noticeable dip in fuel economy. It could be a sensor, but leaks are sneaky. Are you certain it's the sensor itself and not something causing it to fail?
