Colorado Diesel Fuel Filter Heater Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Chevrolet Colorado diesel with nearly 200,000 km is experiencing reduced engine power, sluggish response, increased fuel consumption, and rough idling. The issue is linked to an error code related to the fuel filter heater. A possible cause is a loose or corroded plug connection to the fuel filter heater, which can disrupt performance. The solution involved checking and tightening the plug connection, which resolved the problem and restored the vehicle's performance.

That's interesting. I did a quick visual check of the wiring, but I didn't really focus on the plug itself. Where exactly on the fuel filter is the plug located? Is it easy to get to, or do I need to remove a bunch of stuff to see it properly?

On my BMW, it was located on the bottom of the fuel filter housing, a bit awkward to reach. Think of it like trying to find a specific grain of rice in a bowl full of rice. Given the symptoms and the error code, I'd strongly recommend taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the electrical connections and replace the filter if needed. It is very hard to troubleshoot without proper tools.

Thanks a lot for the insight! I checked the plug connection to the fuel filter heater and you were spot on. Turns out there was a loose wire. I cleaned everything, tightened the connection, and cleared the error code. Runs like new again! Cost me 95€ for the replacement of the connector. You saved me a lot of time and money!

I had similar symptoms with my 2016 BMW 320d a while back. Error stored in the error memory and the exact same issues as you described. In my case, the problem was a defective cable or plug connection to the fuel filter heater. Have you checked the plug itself for corrosion or loose pins? It's often overlooked but can cause all sorts of havoc.
