Colorado solar sensor fault

Hi, I have a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado with a diesel engine and about 113000 km. I'm getting a solar sensor fault, and the heating output seems low. Anyone else experienced this? I've read it could be a cable or plug issue.

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Chevrolet Colorado owner reported a solar sensor fault and low heating output, suspecting a cable or plug issue. A suggestion was made to inspect the wiring harness for damage or corrosion. Upon taking the vehicle to a workshop, a corroded connector on the solar sensor was identified as the problem, confirming the initial suspicion.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar issue with my 2017 BMW 5 series. The HVAC sensor was throwing errors, and the heating was definitely underperforming. Have you checked the sensor's wiring harness for any signs of damage or corrosion?

Thanks for the tip! I haven't checked the wiring harness closely yet. Where is the sensor located on the Colorado? Is it easily accessible?

Unfortunately, I don't know the exact location on your Colorado. Given the similarities in symptoms and the potential for wiring issues, I'd strongly suggest having a workshop diagnose the cable and plug connection. It's likely the cause.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to the shop, and you were spot on! They found a corroded connector on the solar sensor. Repair cost me about 95€.
