Colorado Wiper Failure

I'm having an electrical problem with my 2015 Chevrolet Colorado diesel. The windshield wipers aren't working at all. The diagnostic check shows an error pointing to a possible fault in the wiper system. I checked the fuse box, and all the wiper fuses look good. I think it might be a bad cable or plug in the steering column area. Has anyone else had wiper switch problems like this?

Summary of the thread

The conversation centers around a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado experiencing windshield wiper failure, with diagnostics indicating a potential fault in the wiper system. Despite checking the fuses, the issue persists, leading to speculation about a possible bad cable or plug in the steering column area. A similar problem in a Volvo C30 was resolved by addressing a frayed wire in the steering column harness, suggesting that the Chevrolet's issue might also be related to wiring in the steering column, especially given concurrent cruise control problems. The recommended solution is to consult a technician with electrical diagnostic expertise to safely address the issue.

I had a similar issue on my 2012 Volvo C30. The wipers would fail sometimes, and the diagnostics were vague. We also thought it was a cable or plug. Have you had any other electrical problems recently, like the cruise control acting up? Those systems are sometimes connected through the steering column.

That's a good point. I didn't think about the cruise control. Actually, I have noticed the cruise control not working right the last few weeks. How did you fix the wiper problem on your Volvo? Was it a wiring issue in the steering column?

Yes, the Volvo C30 had a frayed wire in the steering column harness. It was a pain to fix, needing the column taken apart to get to the wire. With your cruise control issues, I'd suggest taking your Colorado to a good shop with electrical diagnostic skills. Messing with steering column wiring can be risky if you aren't careful.

Understood. Thanks for the insight about the cruise control link. I'll take it to a technician, like you suggested. The estimated 95€ for the repair seems okay. Thanks for sharing your experience; it helped me avoid a bad DIY job.
