Corvette Check Engine Light Fuel Consumption
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Corvette owner is experiencing a check engine light and increased fuel consumption. The mechanic suggested a faulty inlet VANOS might be the cause. Another person with a similar issue recommended checking the camshaft solenoid valves, as they can become clogged with oil sludge, and ensuring the power supply to the VANOS system is intact. The suggested solution is to have a professional workshop diagnose and potentially replace the faulty solenoid valve.

Thanks for the quick reply! Camshaft solenoid valves, huh? I'll have to look into that. How difficult was it to diagnose the solenoid valves on your end? Was it something you could check yourself, or did you need special tools?

To be honest, I tried a few things myself, but I'm no expert. Eventually, I caved and took it to a workshop. They had the right tools to properly diagnose the VANOS issue and confirmed it was a faulty solenoid valve. For me, it was just easier and faster than messing around with it myself and potentially making things worse.

Appreciate the advice! Sounds like a trip to the workshop is in my future. They quoted me about 250€ for the repair, so hopefully, it's just that solenoid valve and nothing more serious. Thanks again!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Corvette (although maybe not the same year). Check engine light, guzzling gas like crazy. It could be related to the camshaft solenoid valves, they can get gunked up with oil sludge. Also, make sure your power supply to the VANOS system is solid. Did your mechanic check those?
