Corvette Engine Running Rich
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Chevrolet Corvette owner experienced issues with the engine running rich, leading to reduced power, a check engine light, rough running, increased fuel consumption, and jerking during acceleration. Possible causes discussed included a faulty oxygen sensor, a clogged air filter, a vacuum leak, or a defective fuel injector. After taking the car to a shop, it was confirmed that a defective fuel injector was the cause, and the issue was resolved with a repair.

Thanks, I will check that. Is it difficult to replace the oxygen sensor? Could it also be caused by something else? Like a clogged air filter?

Replacing the oxygen sensor isn't too hard, but sometimes you need a special socket. And yes, a clogged air filter, a vacuum leak in the intake manifold, or even a defective fuel injector could also cause a rich mixture. But based on your symptoms, especially the jerking, I'd suspect a fuel injection problem. You should probably have it checked out by a workshop.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to a shop and you were right. It was a defective fuel injector causing the rich mixture. Repair cost me 515€. Runs great now!

Sounds like a rough situation. I once had a similar problem with my old BMW. It turned out to be a faulty oxygen sensor causing the engine to run rich. That sensor measures how much unburned oxygen is in the exhaust. If it fails it can throw off the fuel mixture. Have you checked yours?
