Crew brake lights intermittent
Summary of the thread
The issue with the 2000 Nissan Crew's brake lights being intermittent was likely due to a loose connection at the brake light switch. The problem was initially suspected to be related to the switch itself or its connections. After reseating the connector properly, the brake lights functioned correctly, resolving the issue without any cost.

Voltage readings, huh? I haven't gotten that deep into it yet. Where exactly should I be probing with my multimeter to check that?

The switch is indeed the most probable cause. A bad contact will cause the described symptoms. However, if you're not comfortable with electrical testing, visiting a workshop might be a better choice to prevent further damage.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! Turns out, I was being a bit clumsy and hadn't fully seated the connector after some unrelated work. Reseated it properly, and everything's perfect now. No cost at all!

Sounds like the brake light switch. Have you checked the switch itself for any obvious damage or loose connections? Are you getting a consistent voltage reading at the switch when the brake pedal is depressed?
