Cruze AdBlue System Failure

I'm having a nightmare with my 2014 Chevrolet Cruze diesel. The 'AdBlue tank empty' error is on the speedometer. It's empty, even though I filled it a month ago! My OBD scanner shows an error related to the AdBlue system, and now the car won't start! It sounds like the AdBlue isn't being delivered properly. Has anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Chevrolet Cruze diesel is experiencing an 'AdBlue tank empty' error despite being recently filled, and the car won't start. The issue may be due to a failure in the AdBlue delivery system, possibly involving a faulty pump or blockages in the lines. It is suggested to check the AdBlue pump and lines for blockages or leaks, and professional inspection is recommended to prevent further damage to the emissions control system.

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my 2016 Opel Insignia. Same symptoms - AdBlue light, error codes, and eventually, no start. In my case, the AdBlue pump had failed. I'd suggest checking the pump and the lines for any blockages or leaks. Do you know if the Cruze has a separate pump for the AdBlue, or is it gravity-fed?

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm not entirely sure if it has a separate pump. I'll have to look into that. Where exactly is the pump located, if it has one? Is it near the tank, or closer to the engine? And how difficult was it to access on your Insignia?

On the Insignia, the pump was right next to the AdBlue tank, under the car. It wasn't too difficult to access, just a bit awkward. However, I'm not certain about the Cruze. Given your symptoms and what you've already checked, I'd really recommend getting it looked at by a professional. A faulty AdBlue system can cause serious problems with your emissions control and could potentially damage the injection system. Better safe than sorry!

Thanks a lot for your advice! I'll take a look to see if I can locate the pump, but you're right, I think it's time to bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. They quoted me around 250€ for a defective AdBlue output. Hopefully, it's a straightforward fix. Thanks again!
