Cube Battery Draining

My 2019 Nissan Cube with a gasoline engine is giving me major headaches! The battery keeps draining like crazy. I'm getting an error message on the speedometer, the lights are flickering, and the car struggles to start. I even hooked it up to a reader, and it's throwing battery-related errors. I'm thinking it might be the battery sensor. Has anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Nissan Cube is experiencing battery drainage issues, with symptoms including error messages, flickering lights, and starting difficulties. The problem might be linked to a defective battery sensor, a faulty voltage regulator, or a parasitic draw. Testing the voltage regulator with a multimeter is suggested, but professional diagnosis and repair are recommended, as a similar issue was resolved by replacing the battery sensor.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Whoa, that sounds rough! I had a similar issue with my Cube, I think it was a 2016 model. Same deal – weird error messages, lights acting possessed, and the battery just wouldn't hold a charge. Have you checked the voltage regulator? That was my first thought. Could also be a parasitic draw somewhere, but the sensor is a good starting point.

Voltage regulator, huh? I haven't checked that yet. Where is that thing even located on the Cube? And how would I test it? Is it something I can do with a multimeter, or do I need some fancy equipment? Also, how did you eventually figure out what was causing your battery drain?

Yeah, the voltage regulator is usually near the alternator. You can test it with a multimeter, just check if it's outputting the correct voltage when the engine is running. As for my issue, after tearing my hair out for a week, I took it to a trusted workshop. They quickly diagnosed a defective battery sensor, replaced it, and the problem was gone. Cost me around 315€. Honestly, save yourself the headache and get it checked out professionally. Could be other things, but the sensor seems like the most probable culprit based on your symptoms.

Thanks a bunch for the info! I'll check the voltage regulator, but you're probably right – I'll take it to the shop. Your experience with the battery sensor seals the deal. Knowing what it cost you is super helpful too, so I'm prepared. Really appreciate the help!
