Dacia Lodgy 2019: Experiencing Black Smoke, Stalling, and Increased Fuel Consumption
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Dacia Lodgy is experiencing issues such as black smoke during acceleration, a persistent check engine light, engine stalling, power loss, instability, increased fuel consumption, and a strong exhaust odor. These symptoms suggest potential problems with the fuel system, possibly involving fuel injection pressure or clogged fuel injectors. A similar case was resolved by cleaning the fuel injectors, checking the fuel pump, and replacing the fuel filter, which restored normal engine performance. Seeking a reliable mechanic for a proper diagnosis and addressing the fuel system is recommended to resolve these issues.

Hey there! I'm bumping heads with something similar in my 2017 Lodgy. It's a real pain, isn’t it? That black smoke and constant check engine light are enough to drive anyone nuts. Reading through your experience, it sounds like getting the fuel system checked out might just be the answer. Thanks for sharing. I’m all fingers and thumbs when it comes to cars, so it’s good hearing from someone who’s been through the same issue. By the way, do you remember around how much you had to shell out to get it all fixed up? And has anything similar popped up since then? Appreciate all the help!

Hey! Apologies for the late reply. Sure thing, getting your fuel system checked should be the way to go. To answer your question, I had to part with around 45€ to wipe out that pesky error message after having the fuel filter changed. So, not a bank-breaker, I would say. The best part? Since then, the fuel injection pressure hasn't deviated from the standard values - touch wood. So, in short, it did the trick for my Lodgy, and I’m glad the darn check engine light hasn't come back to haunt me. Hope your situation gets sorted without much ado. You got this! Let me know how it goes, okay? Cheers!

Thanks for getting back to me! Your advice is much appreciated and kind of a relief too. Been worried about sky-high costs, but €45.0 seems pretty doable. Your input has encouraged me to stop beating around the bush and take her to a reliable mechanic. Bless you for sharing your Dacia troubles and solutions - it's definitely taken some weight off my shoulders. Fingers crossed for my Lodgy being sorted just like yours! I'll be sure to keep you posted. Cheers and stay revved!

Hey! Had a very similar issue with my 2016 Dacia Duster not long ago. It was acting all funny, stuttering, and spitting out black smoke, same as yours. And yes, my check engine light kept coming on as well. Turns out, my fuel injectors had mucked up pretty bad, not just the pressure. Found this out after running some diagnostics at my local garage - they are reliable fellas. They went ahead and cleaned 'em up, checked the fuel pump, and also threw in a new fuel filter for good measure. Idling was back to normal without any stalls, no more black smoke or nasty exhaust smell, and the acceleration was much smoother. So yeah, the fuel system could definitely be at the root of your problem. Just my two cents. Hope you get your Lodgy sorted soon. Just remember, a proper diagnosis from a reliable garage is a must. Good luck!
