Hey, no problem, always happy to help! First of all, everything ran smoothly again after the workshop visit. There were no more problems with the ignition key battery. They quickly replaced it and the warning light has been gone ever since - you feel a bit safer when the car is in tip-top shape again, don't you? As for the costs, the central locking system cost me quite a bit, 465 euros to be precise. The control unit was unfortunately defective and had to be replaced. But it's working now, and that's the main thing. Hope that helps you!

Thank you for the information, that reassures me a little. At least now I know what I can expect. Of course, 465 euros is not a lot of money, but as you say, as long as everything goes well again afterwards, it's worth it. It's great that everything was done quickly for you and that you've been able to sleep peacefully ever since! I hope that everything runs smoothly in my workshop too. I'll get back to you as soon as I have any news. Thanks again for your help!

Hey, I once had a similar problem with my 2013 BMW X3. It was quite annoying as the key fobs weren't working properly and the warning light was on, just like your X1. The thing was, it was something more serious than just a dead battery in the ignition key. In my case, the entire locking unit had to be replaced. It wasn't a huge job at the garage though, they did it pretty quickly. Hope it's not as bad for you. Let us know how it goes.
