DMax water sensor fault
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Chevrolet DMax diesel is experiencing a persistent check engine light and rough engine running due to a water sensor fault. The issue is suspected to be within the cable or plug connection rather than the sensor itself. Cleaning the contacts did not resolve the problem, and a workshop confirmed a faulty connection, which was repaired for 95€.

I haven't noticed any significant corrosion, but I'll take a closer look and try cleaning them with contact cleaner. Is there a reliable way to test the sensor's functionality directly, perhaps with a multimeter?

It's tricky to test those sensors properly without the right tools. If cleaning doesn't work, I'd say take it to a workshop.

Thanks for the input. Cleaning the contacts didn't solve the problem. I took it to a workshop and they confirmed it was a faulty connection as suspected. Total repair cost including diagnostics was 95€. All sorted now.

Sounds like a moisture sensor issue. Is the connection corroded? Have you tried cleaning the contacts?
