Voltage drop across the relay switch? I'm really a novice when it comes to cars; how would I test for that, and which relay switch are we talking about exactly?

Confirming that a defective cable or plug connection of the component is very likely. Given your lack of familiarity, I'd advise against DIY diagnostics in this case. A workshop will quickly identify the defective component using their equipment.

Thanks. Took it to a local mechanic, and you were spot on. Turns out, the cable connection to the ignition switch was faulty. They replaced the connector, and it cost me 95€. Runs like a dream now!

I had a similar issue with my 2018 Audi A3. The error code was different, but the symptoms were identical. The issue was with the cable or plug connection. Have you checked for any voltage drop across the relay switch?
