Evanda temperature sensor fault

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2004 Chevrolet Evanda, it's got a gasoline engine. The car says the outside temperature sensor is faulty - there's an error code stored, and the air conditioning won't even turn on! It's also causing the spray nozzles to freeze up when it's cold, and the mirror heating isn't working either. I'm guessing it's something to do with a dodgy cable or plug connection to the temperature sensor? It's got 155040 km on the clock. Has anyone had this happen before?

Summary of the thread

A 2004 Chevrolet Evanda is experiencing issues with a faulty outside temperature sensor, leading to problems with the air conditioning, spray nozzles, and mirror heating. The suspected cause is a faulty cable or plug connection to the temperature sensor. It is suggested to check the wiring for corrosion or damage, particularly around the sensor located behind the front bumper near the fog light. If unsure, consulting a professional for repair is recommended.

Sounds familiar! I've got a Chevrolet Evanda too, and I had similar problems last winter. The temperature sensor readings were all over the place, and it messed with the climate control system. The vehicle temperature gauge was totally unreliable. Have you checked the wiring around the sensor itself? It might be corroded or damaged.

Thanks for the reply! Where exactly is the temperature sensor located on the Evanda? And how difficult is it to get to the wiring to check for corrosion? I'm not the most mechanically minded, so any tips would be appreciated!

On my car, the sensor is behind the front bumper, near the fog light. It's a bit fiddly to get to, but not impossible. If you're not confident, it might be best to take it to a workshop. A faulty connection can cause all sorts of weird electrical problems. I ended up paying 95€ to get mine fixed. Better safe than sorry!

Thanks so much for the advice! I think I'll take your suggestion and get it checked out by a professional. It's good to know it's probably just a simple fix. Hopefully, they can sort out the wiring and calibrate the sensor properly. Appreciate the help!
