Thanks for the quick response. I haven't looked at the remote start module yet. Could you elaborate on your experience? Were the symptoms identical, and what steps did you take? I'm interested in any diagnostic procedures you used.

Yes, the symptoms were almost exactly the same. Given that it is the immobilizer and the anti-theft system interacting, I would suggest visiting a competent workshop. They can check the correct programming of the keys and the immobilizer itself. I had to go through this, and they re-flashed the ECU and refreshed the key data.

I appreciate your insights. I took it to a local workshop, and the key programming was indeed the problem. Re-flashing the ECU and re-programming the key resolved it, costing only 45€! Thanks again for steering me in the right direction.

I had a similar issue with my Explorer. The symptoms you described, the engine starting momentarily before cutting out, definitely ring a bell. Did you check the remote start module, or any aftermarket anti-theft devices?
