Functionality map thermostat
The electrically heated thermostat uses coolant and an electric heater to heat the wax working element. This combination allows the engine temperature to be regulated individually according to load requirements. The engine control unit controls the heating based on various factors.
At high power requirements, the heating causes the coolant circuit to open early. Depending on the specification, the engine can be operated at around 100 °C - 110 °C in the partial load range, resulting in a consumption advantage of 1-2%. At full load, the temperature is lowered to around 80 °C, which can increase performance and especially torque by 2-3%.
