Heating and defrosting problems with Mini Countryman Diesel, year 2012: Possible defect in the misting sensor

Mirror doesn't defrost

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Dear community, I have a problem with my 2012 Mini Countryman Diesel. I have the feeling that the heating/ventilation is not giving enough power and the mirror is no longer de-icing properly. Could it be that the misting sensor is defective? Does anyone have experience with such problems and can give me tips on how to fix it or what was done in the workshop? I am grateful for any tips!

Hey buddy, I had a similar problem with my 2014 Mini Cooper Hatchback. At that time, the plug of the hardware sensor was not properly locked. I only have some car knowledge, but my mechanic explained it to me in detail. They then locked the plug properly again at my garage. That cost me 225 euros. Can you tell me more about your car? Maybe then I can help you in more detail. I hope that helps you a bit!

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! My Countryman has 132000 km on the clock so far and was last serviced two months ago. I noticed the problem with the heating after that. I hope it's just the plug you mentioned. I'm a bit worried that the repair cost might be high, but if it's only 220 euros I'd be relieved. Thanks again for your tip, I'll check with my garage. Cheers!

Hey, no problem! I understand that repair costs can be scary, but sometimes the simplest solutions can work wonders. With your speedometer reading, it's probably unlikely that the fog sensor is completely faulty. Like me, it could just be a problem with the connector. But your garage will be able to tell you that. It's definitely worth asking. And the next time you have a similar problem, don't hesitate to ask here again. I'm happy to help as much as I can! Happy driving and hopefully the problem will be fixed soon!

Hey, thanks for the encouraging words! That really gives me hope that it's just a minor problem. Very thoughtful of you to go into my problem in such detail. I will definitely ask the garage about it. And the next time I have a similar problem, I'll know where to go for help. Thank you again and have a safe journey!
