HHR knock sensor woes
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Chevy HHR is experiencing issues with the check engine light, poor fuel efficiency, and rough idle, attributed to a knock sensor error. The problem is suspected to be a faulty connection in the wiring or connector rather than the sensor itself. After confirming the wiring issue, replacing the connector resolved the problem, restoring normal vehicle performance.

Good point about the resistance. I haven't checked that yet, I was focusing on the visual inspection of the wiring. Also, the specific code is P0325. Would a simple multimeter test tell me if the sensor is truly toast, or just the connection?

P0325, yeah, that nails it - knock sensor circuit malfunction. Since you already suspect the wiring, that's the most likely culprit. If the wiring checks out, and the multimeter test is inconclusive, I'd suggest getting it looked at by a pro. Could save you a lot of headaches and wasted parts!

Thanks for confirming my suspicions! Turns out it was the connector, just like you said. The shop charged me 95€ to replace it, and now everything's back to normal. Fuel efficiency is back up, the light's off, and it idles smoothly. You saved me a lot of diagnostic time!

Whoa, sounds rough! A bad knock sensor can definitely mess things up. The check engine light, poor fuel economy, and rough idle all point that way. I'm no expert, but did you check the resistance of the sensor? What codes are you getting exactly?
