Impala turn signal error
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Chevrolet Impala is experiencing a turn signal error, with a fault in the lighting system indicated by an error message on the speedometer. The issue is isolated to the left indicator light, and initial checks showed no broken cables or faulty bulbs. Corrosion on the connectors was suggested as a possible cause, and upon inspection, corrosion was found on the left indicator plug. Despite cleaning, the problem persisted, leading to a workshop visit where a defective cable or plug connection was identified and repaired.

Good shout, I hadn't thought about corrosion. Is there an easy way to check for corroded connectors, or is it just a case of visual inspection? And yeah, it seems to be just the left indicator light that's giving me grief, at least so far.

A visual inspection is a good start, look for any green or white powdery stuff on the connectors. Also, try wiggling the connector while the signal is on – if it flickers or cuts out, that's a strong sign of a bad connection. Given it's just one side that's faulty, I'd bet it's a localized cable or plug issue. If you're not comfortable digging deeper, a quick trip to the workshop might save you a bigger headache. I once chased an electrical fault for weeks, only for it to be a simple wire break that cost next to nothing to fix.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice! Gave the connectors a closer look and you were spot on - the left indicator plug was corroded pretty bad. Cleaned it all up, but no luck, still persists. So I brought it to the shop. Turns out, the cable or plug connection was defective, after all! Set me back 95€, but at least it's fixed.

Electrical gremlins are the worst! I had a similar issue with my old Buick; turned out to be a corroded connector. Have you checked the cable and plug connection thoroughly? Sometimes it's not obvious. Also, have you noticed if it's specific to one side or if it happens intermittently?
