No prior indications of failure. It just happened. When you had this on your BMW, were there error messages or symptoms? What fixed it?

Yep, similar story – no warning, just bam! Error message lit up. It turned out to be a faulty cable connection inside the steering wheel itself. Had to get it replaced for 95€. With those symptoms, I'd bet you have a similar issue. Probably best to get it checked out. Is it worth risking doing it yourself?

I had it inspected. The diagnostic assessment confirmed a defective cable connection within the steering wheel assembly. The cable was replaced, and it's fixed. Repair cost was 95€. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Sounds frustrating. I had a similar headache with my old BMW 3 Series. The whole multifunction steering setup just went haywire. Were there any warning signs, or did it just suddenly stop working? Did you check the control module and steering controls, or perhaps try to read out the malfunction indicator? It could be something as simple as a sensor issue.
