Ka Gear Shift Indicator Failure
Summary of the thread
The gear shift indicator on a 2010 Ford Ka is not functioning, preventing gear engagement and causing gearbox issues with grinding noises. A possible cause could be a defective control unit, as experienced by another owner with a similar problem. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected and repaired by a professional, as the issue may involve complex automotive electronics.

Thanks for getting back! The display is totally blank. Just wondering, what exactly went wrong with your Ka, and did you manage to sort it out yourself?

Yep, mine was completely blank too, just like yours. It turned out to be a defective control unit messing everything up. I wouldn't advise tackling the repair yourself unless you really know your way around automotive electronics. Ended up costing me around 1000€ at the local workshop...

Thanks for the info! I suspected something like that. Guess I'll bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. Appreciate the help!

Whoa, that sounds rough! I had a similar issue with my Ka. Was it the digital display showing random stuff, or just plain blank? In my case, it threw off the whole auto transmission. Have you checked the TCM?
