Kalos Overheating Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Chevrolet Kalos is experiencing overheating issues, with the check engine light on, potentially due to a non-functioning radiator fan. The fan spins freely, leading to speculation about a faulty thermal switch. However, after further discussion, it was determined that the problem was a defective speed sensor, which was subsequently repaired.

Thanks! The overheating happens when idling and at higher speeds. Could a bad speed sensor still be the problem?

Less likely if it happens at idle, but still possible. The speed sensor issue can show up in different ways. Since it's at idle too, it might be something else. I'd suggest a workshop; they can diagnose it properly.

Thanks for the advice. It was a defective speed sensor, like you said. The repair was 250€.

I had a similar overheating problem with my Kalos. Did you check the speed sensor? My engine temperature was rising, but only at higher speeds. What happens when you idle?
