Kalos Radar Sensor Failure

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2004 Chevrolet Kalos (gasoline engine). The radar sensor seems to have stopped working. I'm getting an error message on the speedometer, and the error memory has stored a corresponding fault. This is causing failures in various safety systems and the warning light is constantly on. I suspect it might just be a dirty sensor, but I'm not sure how to proceed. Mileage is 85704 km. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

The 2004 Chevrolet Kalos experienced a radar sensor failure, indicated by an error message and warning light. The issue likely stemmed from debris accumulation after driving on a muddy road. Cleaning the sensor did not resolve the problem, so a professional diagnostic and radar recalibration were necessary. After recalibration, the system returned to normal functionality.

Greetings. The symptoms you are experiencing are indeed indicative of a malfunctioning or obstructed radar sensor. Before proceeding with any diagnostic procedures, may I inquire as to the environmental conditions under which this issue initially presented itself? Furthermore, have you observed any recent impacts or other events that may have potentially caused physical damage to the sensor housing or its immediate surroundings?

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't recall any impacts or damage to the sensor area. As for environmental conditions, it started happening after a particularly muddy drive on a back road. Could that have anything to do with it? Is there any easy way to check the sensor?

Given the information regarding the muddy driving conditions, it is highly probable that the sensor's performance is being impeded by accumulated debris. While a visual inspection and gentle cleaning of the sensor surface may offer a temporary resolution, it is imperative to acknowledge that a thorough radar calibration procedure, conducted within a specialized workshop environment, is often necessary to ensure optimal system functionality and adherence to stringent safety standards. Proceed with caution and consider professional evaluation.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I cleaned the sensor and that didn't fix the problem. Took it to a local mechanic who ran a diagnostic, and recalibrated the radar for 45€. Everything seems to be working as expected now. Really appreciate your help!
