So you think it's just the battery? I was worried it might be something more complicated with the car's system. What kind of battery did your Opel key take?

Pretty sure it's just the battery, yeah. The Astra used a standard CR2032 button cell, but check your owner's manual to be 100% certain what your Essentia needs. Honestly, I'd swing by a workshop. They can confirm it quickly and replace it for you if you're not comfortable doing it yourself.

Thanks! I appreciate the advice. You were right, it was just the battery. Replaced it and everything is working fine now. Cost me 37€ at the workshop.

Yep, sounds like a dead key fob battery to me. I had the same thing happen with my old Opel Astra, although without the error code. Keyless entry just stopped working one day. Have you tried replacing the battery? They're usually pretty cheap.
