I haven't tried injector cleaner additives. I thought it would be a temporary solution, and a physical cleaning or replacement may be required. Can injector testing be done at home, or does it need special equipment?

The cleaner might buy you some time, but you're right, it's like putting a band-aid on a broken leg. For testing, unless you've got the gear, it's best left to the pros. It's like checking your own eyesight – you can get a general idea, but a proper test needs proper equipment. My gut feeling is that you might be looking at a workshop visit. They'll properly diagnose it and prevent further damage.

I took it to my local mechanic; they confirmed a defective cold start injector. The total repair cost was 515€. Thanks for your help in identifying the possible issue.

I had something similar on my Nissan Micra. It was struggling to start in the cold. Turns out, a clogged injector was the problem. Have you tried any injector cleaner additives or considered getting them tested?
