Kuga NOx Catalyst and Exhaust Leak
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Ford Kuga with 122,111 km had a check engine light indicating NOx storage catalyst aging and a faint exhaust leak. The issue was suspected to be related to the exhaust system, potentially affecting fuel efficiency and sensor readings. Upon inspection, a leak was found at a joint before the catalytic converter, which was causing the error. Repairing the exhaust leak resolved the problem, confirming the initial suspicion.

Fuel efficiency does seem diminished. Where on the exhaust system was the problem in your case?

Mine was at a joint just before the catalytic converter. Get it checked, it might be the same issue. I advise you to have it thoroughly inspected at a workshop.

Just to let you know, the exhaust system had a leak as suspected. The NOx storage catalyst aging warning was a knock-on effect. Repair cost came to 265€ Thanks for the guidance; it was invaluable.

I had something similar with my Kuga. Check the exhaust system thoroughly for leaks, especially around the joints and flex pipe. A small leak can throw off the sensor readings and cause that error. Is your fuel efficiency also affected?
