Lacetti immobilizer issue

My 2007 Chevrolet Lacetti diesel cranks but won't start, or starts then cuts out immediately. Getting an error code related to the immobilizer. I'm suspecting the key programming is off. Mileage is 124347 km. Anyone seen this before?

I had a similar problem with my Lacetti. Same symptoms. The anti-theft system went haywire. Does the key symbol flash on the dash when you try to start it?

Yeah, the key symbol is flashing. Did you manage to fix it yourself, or did it need specialist attention? Any idea on the cause? Is there a way to bypass the immobilizer temporarily?

Mine needed a trip to the workshop. It turned out the key needed reprogramming. Best get it checked; messing with the immobilizer yourself is risky.
