Lacetti Poor Starts Camshaft Sensor

Hey, my 2010 Chevrolet Lacetti diesel is acting up. Getting poor starts, feels like reduced engine power, and the ECU threw a code. Suspect the camshaft sensor. Any ideas before I start tearing things apart?

Summary of the thread

A 2010 Chevrolet Lacetti diesel is experiencing poor starts and reduced engine power, with an ECU code suggesting a camshaft sensor issue. The problem may be due to a defective camshaft sensor or its cable and plug connection. It is recommended to inspect the sensor's cable and plug for defects, as a similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a frayed cable near the connector.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had similar symptoms with my old Renault Megane – also a camshaft position sensor issue. Do you have the error code? Did you check the sensor's cable and plug connection for defects? That's where I would start.

Good shout. What exactly was defective with your Megane's connection? And what error code did you get?

The error code was P0340. It turned out the cable had frayed near the connector, causing intermittent contact. Given the symptoms and the 'cable or plug connection' probability, I would advise a visit to the workshop for a professional diagnosis.

Spot on! Finally got around to checking the connection thoroughly, and the cable was indeed damaged. New sensor and labor came to 95€. Thanks for the help!
