Loud engine and exhaust fumes in the 2011 Ford CrownVictoria: advice wanted

Loud exhaust

Loud engine when cold

Hi guys, I'm worried about my 2011 Ford CrownVictoria (gasoline engine, 71754 km run). Recently, the engine has been quite loud when cold and the exhaust gases also seem louder than usual. Maybe the exhaust flap in the exhaust is affected. Have any of you had similar problems and what was your experience with the mechanic? I'd like your opinion before I go to the garage. It wasn't a great experience last time. Thanks in advance for your help! Best regards!

Hello, Oh dear, I had a similar experience with my 2008 Ford Mondeo. It sounded strange too, really loud somehow. In the end, however, it turned out that the exhaust flap was defective, just as you suspect. The mechanics at my garage did a great job. Sure, it wasn't exactly a small thing to fix, but it wasn't the end of the world either. All in all, the whole thing was a bit of an effort, especially as the exhaust had to be completely dismantled. So, don't worry too much. The guys in the workshop will certainly get it right. Wish you better luck with your mechanic this time! Take care, old man!

Hey, thanks for the encouraging words. That reassures me a little. Do you remember what you paid for the repair back then? And has anything else come up since then that you could mention in this context? Sorry for all the questions, but better armed before I have to go back to the workshop. Thank you! Best regards!

Hey, I'm glad I could help you a little. Well, I think I paid around €190 to have the exhaust flap fixed. Since the visit to the mechanic, the problem with the malfunctioning exhaust flap in the exhaust has also gone away. Fortunately, nothing else has come up since then that I could tell you about. So, good luck with your workshop visit. Don't let it get you down, you'll be fine! Best regards!

Thanks for the info and the positive attitude, it really helps. 190 sounds reasonably fair, I was expecting worse. I'm curious to see what the mechanics say and will keep that in mind. Thanks for your help and support, I hope it goes straight. See you next time, take care! Best regards!
