Low Brake Fluid Chevrolet Move

I've got a 2016 Chevrolet Move with a gasoline engine. The brake fluid level is consistently low, and I'm getting some strange feedback from the brake pedal. The car has 182526 km on it. I've checked for visible leaks around the master cylinder and calipers, but haven't found anything obvious. Could this be related to worn brake components?

Summary of the thread

The 2016 Chevrolet Move experienced consistently low brake fluid levels and unusual brake pedal feedback. Despite no visible leaks around the master cylinder and calipers, the issue was suspected to be related to worn brake components. After consulting a mechanic, it was confirmed that the front brakes were worn, causing the low fluid levels. Replacing the brakes resolved the problem.

Interesting. I had a similar problem with my Chevrolet Move some time ago. If I remember correctly, the brake pedal felt rather soft and 'spongy.' Have you checked your brake lines for any signs of corrosion? It might be worth inspecting the rear ones particularly, as they are more exposed to the elements. Also, is the brake warning light on?

Thanks for the insights. I will definitely inspect the brake lines more closely, especially at the rear. When you had that spongy feeling, was the fluid level also dropping? Also, did you have to top up the fluid frequently?

Yes, the fluid level was indeed dropping, and I had to top it off regularly. I remember thinking that the worn pads required replacing. After the replacement the issue persisted. I'd recommend having a professional take a look at your vehicle to pinpoint the exact cause, as it could be a more complex hydraulic issue.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. Based on your recommendation, I took the Chevrolet to my local mechanic. It turned out that the front brakes were worn, and the brake fluid was low due to that. After the brake replacement, everything is working as expected. The repair cost amounted to 480€.
