Malibu hybrid oil temperature sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid exhibited an engine oil temperature sensor error and a flickering oil pressure lamp, despite the oil level being fine. The issue was suspected to be a faulty sensor cable or plug. After consulting with others who experienced similar problems, it was suggested that the problem could be due to a loose connection. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic, who confirmed and resolved the issue by replacing the faulty connector, clearing the error codes.

When you say 'similar', do you mean the exact same symptoms – warning light, error code, and oil pressure lamp flickering? Did the diagnostics tool specifically mention the engine oil temperature sensor, or just a generic 'engine sensor' error? Also, where's the sensor located? Trying to find the cable and plug to check for damage.

Yes, pretty much the same. I'd take it to a shop. They can check the sensor with more sophisticated tools.

Okay, thanks. I took it to a local mechanic, and you were right. It was indeed the engine oil temperature sensor connection. They replaced the faulty connector and cleared the error codes. Total cost was 95€, so not too bad. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

I had a similar issue with my Chevy Malibu. I think it was the temp sensor. The warning light would come and go, and the diagnostics kept pointing to the engine sensor. It could be a loose connection.
