Mark X Exhaust Leak and Lambda Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Toyota Mark X with 52,102 km is experiencing a check engine light, rough engine performance, an exhaust leak, and a strong exhaust smell. The core problem is suspected to be an exhaust treatment malfunction. A similar case was resolved by replacing a defective lambda sensor, which was confirmed as the issue after a workshop diagnosis.

Thanks for the insight. Lambda sensor, you say? Was yours also showing an exhaust leak along with the sensor issue?

Yes, there was a noticeable exhaust leak smell, which made me suspect something was seriously wrong with the exhaust system. It's best to get it checked by a workshop. They can properly diagnose the source of the leak and confirm if it's the sensor or something else.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – defective lambda sensor! Repair cost me 375€ Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I have a Mark X too, and your symptoms sound familiar. When mine had similar issues, especially the rough running and strong exhaust smell, it ended up being a defective lambda sensor. Have you checked that?
