Hey there, Geez, that sounds pretty rough, huh? Your issue seems strangely similar to something I had with my 2017 Mazda CX3, though not quite as scary with the metal bits. Anyway, it got sorted out, so don't despair just yet. Based on my experience, I'm nodding along to what suggested, sounds like solid advice. My ordeal ended up with an oil change, new filter, and that pesky oil pressure switch replaced. Sounds like quite a handful, but it definitely beat the alternative of a trashed engine. Can you recall how much that whole fix set you back,? Also, were there any other gremlins that popped up after the repair? Curious because I'm a bit paranoid now and keeping an eye on every little thing! Drive safe, folk.
Hey again, You bet, it was a bit of a bumpy ride. As far as the cost of the fix goes, it stung a little–I had to fork out about 175.00 € for them to correct the engine oil issue. I must admit though, considering the alternative of a completely ruined engine, I'd definitely say it was money well spent! After the garage trip, they had managed to sort out the defective engine oil pressure switch. Fortunately, once they did that job, I haven't seen any other gremlins creep up. My Mazda's been running smooth as ever since, so I reckon we managed to dodge a real bullet there! Keep an eye on that dashboard and drive safe. Cheers!
Hey! Thanks so much for the insights and for sharing your experiences, really appreciate it! It sounds super familiar to my situation so it's comforting to know that it could just be a fix with the oil mix-up and switch. Based on what you've both said, it seems I'd best get my car booked into a mechanic first thing in the morning. At this stage, spending somewhere around the ballpark of an hour and a hundred or so Euro to possibly save my engine seems like a pretty sound investment! Fingers crossed it goes much smoother than my last mechanic run-in and there are no other unexpected issues lurking around the corner. I promise to keep my fingers off the oil next time, and until then, I'll be keeping a close watch at that dashboard! Again, I can't thank you enough for the well-timed advice. Drive safe!
Hey! Sounds like you've got quite the situation on your hands. Reminds me of a problem I ran into with my 2016 Mazda CX5 a little while back, kind of a similar issue. My oil light didn't want to shut off and there seemed to be a bit of that grinding noise in the engine. Turns out, someone mistakenly put the incorrect engine oil in my baby. Yup, wasn't a fun discovery I tell you, and on top of that, the outcome can be quite serious in terms of damage to the engine. In your case, those metal shavings are an immediate red flag. From what I gathered back then, wrong engine oil can for sure mess up the oil pressure switch. The mechanics had to drain the oil, replace the oil filter, replace the oil pressure switch, and refill with the correct oil. My best advice? Book an appointment with your garage ASAP. The sooner they can set it right, the less long-term damage might occur. Hope this helps, and fingers crossed it's not something bigger! Stay safe out there.
