Mercedes GLE windshield washer issue

I'm officially losing it with my 2018 Mercedes GLE gasoline engine. That annoying dashboard light keeps popping up for low windshield washer fluid. The windshield washer system doesn't even work! I checked the fluid level, it was low, so I filled it. But the light is still on, and the wiper system is dead. I even scanned the error memory, and there's an error stored related to the wiper system. Could it be the washer motor? Has anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Mercedes GLE owner experienced a persistent dashboard warning for low windshield washer fluid, despite refilling the reservoir, and found the washer system non-functional. The issue was traced to a faulty washer fluid level sensor, which was confirmed by a professional diagnosis. Replacing the sensor resolved the problem, clearing the error code and restoring the system's functionality.

I've been there! Had a similar issue with my older Volvo. The windshield washer warning light kept coming on even after I topped up the washer fluid. Turns out, the sensor in the reservoir was faulty. This sensor tells your car whether the wiper water level is too low, but it can fail. Does your Mercedes also have this sensor?

A sensor, huh? Interesting. Where exactly is that sensor located? Is it something I can check myself, or am I better off just taking it to a shop?

On my Volvo, it was attached to the washer fluid reservoir. If the light stays on, and the system doesn't spray, the sensor might be the problem, but it could also be the washer motor itself. Honestly, unless you're comfortable with car electrics, it's probably best to get a professional to diagnose it. It could be a wiring issue as well. I ended up taking mine in.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on! The washer fluid level sensor was indeed faulty. They replaced it, cleared the error code, and now everything is working perfectly. The repair cost me around 25€. Appreciate you pointing me in the right direction!
